Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Database, a great teaching tool

I came across the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Database while reading Henry Louis Gates Jr.'s opinion piece on slave reparations in the New York Times.

It has great statistics, charts, maps, and more. This is a wonderful resource for anyone teaching about the trans-Atlantic slave trade.

Stunning pictures of sleeping insects covered in early morning dew

I am absolutely stunned by these images of insects. View the entire gallery on the Daily Mail site.

On a side note, one of my favorite Flickr insect photographers is Lord V. He is also well worth checking out.

Either of these resources would be perfect for working with students studying insects. Perhaps you could even invite the photographers into your classrooms virtually.

Touching Strangers - a photography project

a beautifully captured project called Touching Strangers where Richard Renaldi has strangers pose for a picture with one stipulation, they must be physically touching each other in some way. I love this idea and the execution of the project.

Via the Photojojo newsletter. If you take pictures, you should sign up for their stuff.
